As a designer, have you always felt confident in your ability to sketch and share your ideas with others? Mike and Tim both had a fear of sharing their sketches with other people because they felt as if their sketches weren’t on par with those of the average designers.

In this episode, Tim shares his experiences of being afraid to share his sketches and how vulnerable he feels when he’s sketching. Mike also shares that he used to feel as if his sketches weren’t worthy of being shown to others. They get into a discussion about the different levels of sketching; from fast brainstorming sketches to refining ideas and eventually developing a drawing.

Mike and Tim talk about the importance that practicing sketching has on developing a personal style, confidence, and comfort with sharing their ideas and work. Later in the episode, they talk about the different kinds of tools one could use to develop their sketches. Mike shares his preference in using monochromatic markers and the types of pens he has been using for his sketches. Tim shares his favorite pens and using a pencil to develop guidelines.
