How can pursuing personal speculative design projects and competitions be invigorating for designers’ passions? How can taking a masterclass motivate a designer to pursue their dreams? From self-improvement through design competitions and taking Masterclasses to traveling and planning to write a book in 2020, Mike and Tim share the latest in their lives as designers in this episode of Design Life.

Tim talks about how working on the design of a preschool in the Republic of Mozambique reinvigorated his passion for designing architecture. He shares the ideas that went into his proposal for the competition and how he fell in love again with the process of design through the project. Tim also shares his latest weekly travels for a project he’s working on at the firm where he’s employed and how he got used to the constant flights and hotels.

Mike shares his experience taking Sara Blakely’s Masterclass on entrepreneurship and how it has motivated him to pursue more in 2020. He was inspired by Blakely’s discussion about setting higher goals for all your endeavors because you’ll end up either reaching it or falling slightly short of it. The higher the goal, the bigger the outcome. Mike also shares his thoughts on the future of his blog, Evolving Architect, and his idea of writing a book in 2020.
